Ask God

For the past several months the LORD has been speaking to me about the need to ask His input and opinion before making any decisions or doing anything. I recently came out of a season of great disappointments, during which I allowed anxiety and desperation to cloud my judgment. I made rushed and irrational decisions; and suffered significant loss as a result.

Our Father is interested in our lives and desires to be involved. YHVH wants us to ask His thoughts and opinions about EVERYTHING regarding our lives. Nevertheless, He has given us a free will and the choice to invite Him in. Many times we go to Him as a last resort, when everything and everyone else has failed us. On the contrary, it is His will that we ask Him FIRST.

In the Torah, we can see that the people of God were always successful and prosperous when they inquired first of the LORD before doing anything or making any decisions. And that is still His will for us today. In Matthew 7:7-11 CJB, we see Messiah Yeshua encouraging us to ask. He said,

“”Keep asking, and it will be given to you; keep seeking, and you will find; keep knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps asking receives; he who keeps seeking finds; and to him who keeps knocking, the door will be opened. Is there anyone here who, if his son asks him for a loaf of bread, will give him a stone? or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? So if you, even though you are bad, know how to give your children gifts that are good, how much more will your Father in heaven keep giving good things to those who keep asking him!”

Even though our “Father knows what [we] need before [we] ask him,” He respects our free will and allow us the opportunity to ask Him. So if we keep asking, He will keep giving; but if we neglect asking Him, we will miss out on all the great things He has stored up for us.

In John 16:23 Messiah declares,

“When that day comes, you won’t ask anything of me! Yes, indeed! I tell you that whatever you ask from the Father, he will give you in my name.

As we seek to realign our lives, let us make it a daily priority to inquire of the LORD first!
