At that moment, when we are enveloped in fear, it seems as if we will not make it and the past bondage appears better than our present situation.
Through all of these - His law, direction, precept, commands, ruling - coupled with a deep respect for Him we are warned. However, if we choose to walk in obedience we will receive great reward.
"The Spirit of ADONAI is upon me because he has anointed me to announce Good News to the poor; he has sent me to proclaim freedom for the imprisoned and renewed sight for the blind, to release those who have been crushed, to proclaim a year of the favour of ADONAI." Luke 4:18-19
The Bible speaks about the "deceitful glamor of wealth". This is the perception of wealth that makes us believe that money will solve all our problems, that it will fill the voids in our life, that it will make us feel purposeful, accomplished and important, and that it will give us all we need and more.
"Who can discern unintentional sins? Cleanse me from hidden faults. Also keep your servant from presumptuous sins, so that they won't control me." Psalm 19:13-14 CJB
The enemy of our souls will try to tamper with our faith in God; using our identity - who we are - to doubt who He is by trying to shift our focus from the eternal perspective and distract us with a temporary situation.
Let us examine what comes after ... after they were beaten and locked up ... after the chains broke and the doors opened ... even after the jailer asked "What must I do to be saved?"
